Chocolates

Chocolates

I have had a great time making chocolates, No not edible ones, fabric ones. I saw the idea in Stitch magazine, so it just had to be done. Hope you enjoy.

Trees

Trees

I painted a landscape on some silk last year and never did anything more, but finally I have now embellished it, using fabric and wools and embroidery threads. It was great fun to do.

Toran Toran

Toran Toran

Well I have been working on the latest project from Shelagh Folgate it was to make a set of bunting, It used lots of techniques which were fun to do and I used my favourite word DREAM on the pennants. I made it double sided and it is hanging in the doorway between my studio and sewing room.

Embellished Stitched Landscape

I have been having fun making this landscape wallhanging, I chose the fabrics first, some I had dyed and a couple I had rusted. I then embellished scrim, threads and lace onto it, then embroidered more threads and then beaded it all. Feel quite sad it is finished now.

Felted picture frame

Picture Frame

I then decided to add a picture frame to a piece of work I did about 6 years ago, it was using a Japanese programme to turn a photo into an embroidery. I used soft merino wool toppings and dry felted them using Dale Rollersons method of rolling it in bubble wrap. Then embellished it with the babylock and added some felted leaves and beads. Another project done. All part of my New years Resolution to get things finished.

"Passionata"

Passionata

Well the second challenge for Shelagh was to make a doll - a muse- so here is my idea of my muse, She is called " Passionata" as I am passionate about mixed media artistry. I loved making her and am going to have a go at making other types of dolls. I had dyed all the fabric and have dry needle felted her skirt.

Lollipop Lane

This was Shelagh Folgate's Smashees Workshop, one every month. This is the December project, it is a folder cover for an A4 folder, Lots of different techniques and great fun to do.

Rosey Rosey

I have been busy this week trying to finish projects and also to catch up with Internet Challenges.
This one is Rosey Rosey by Shelagh Folgate and was from last year. Well its finished now.

Freeform Knitting

A close up of the various knitted sections.

Freeform Knitting

This is my first attempt at Freeform Knitting. I started with a diamond shape and then just picked up stitches from the shape and knitted off in all directions, Very addictive. I used all odds of wool and incorporated gold embroidery threads. I then backed it with some dyed cheescloth and embellished it on my BabyLock. It is very soft and very warm, just right for this cold winter.

Nativity Creche

Before Christmas I was invited to make and display a Nativity Creche at an exhibition in our nearby City. Brian helped me to make the shape from wood and I embossed and painted copper shim and then cut into shapes and machine embroidered these onto felt covered with organza.
The Icons on the back inside walls were printed onto tissue paper and then laid over gold card. The Rose window was printed on to acetate. The figures were made using wire frames and then covered in Paverpol soaked fabric, the faces were Model Magic in moulds. I was very pleased with the end result and hope you like it too!

New Year 2011

Hi Everybody, I have been very remiss and have not blogged for nearly a year. I had two major operations last summer and just haven't had the inclination to Blog, but now it is 2011 and I promise to Blog every week starting now!!!!
I am going to hibernate, like a Butterfly for the next three months and really do some serious art things. Starting with Dale Rollerson's Hot Needles, Cool Stitches Workshop and Shelagh Folgate's Smashees. So watch out for some new work to appear. Happy New year to you ALL.
